Océ Arizona 250 GT Flatbed Printer Wins

October 29, 2007, Chicago – Océ, a global leader in digital printing solutions, has been recognized at this year’s Specialty Graphic Imaging Association’s Annual Convention and Trade Show with the Digital Printing & Imaging Association (DPI) Product of the Year Award for the Océ Arizona® 250 GT flatbed printer in the category Output Device Rigid Substrate UV.

DPI Product of the Year Awards compare output from competing devices using a common test file designed by DPI.  The prints are reviewed by a panel of judges, each with a background and expertise in digital printing and imaging.  The judges look for color appeal, detail and tonality, and the output is also judged on how closely it matches the test print.
The Océ Arizona 250 GT printer’s winning entry was produced on Fome-Cor® 5mm rigid media.  The image was processed through ONYX® ProductionHouseTM V7.0 Océ Edition workflow software.

The Océ Arizona 250 GT, a near-photographic quality flatbed and roll-to-roll UV curable inkjet printer, was recognized as the new digital imaging product development most likely to have a profound and positive effect on the industry.
The versatile Océ Arizona 250 GT printer offers breakthrough levels of quality, productivity and flexibility.  Based on a new Océ-developed platform, the Océ Arizona 250 GT printer combines a true flatbed design and a separate, dedicated roll-to-roll capability.  It uses UV curable inks and Océ VariaDot™ imaging technology to deliver near-photographic image quality.  This next evolution of piezo inkjet technology enables a print head to produce dots of variable size versus print heads using fixed-droplet technology.  The result is image quality with a sharpness only seen before at resolutions of 1,440 dpi or higher.

The Océ Arizona 250 GT printer previously won the DPI Vision Award, which is given to an exhibiting manufacturer whose new product has the best chance of positively impacting the digital imaging industry.  The decision is based on the product’s relevance to the market, potential industry influence and prospective value to the product’s end users.  The award was presented in September 2006.

The Océ Arizona 250 GT flatbed UV printer was designated “a truly innovative product” when it won the viscom INNOVATION AWARD 2007 in the Large Format Digital Printing category.  The awards were announced during the viscom 2007 international trade fair for visual communication, held in Düsseldorf, Germany in September 2007.
